The latest bad news surrounding Indian team after a convincing win in the 2nd Test match is in relation with the Indian opening batsmen Virendra Sehwag, who will not be able to play in the ODI series against South Africa due to shoulder injury.

As per report of the sources, Sehwag will be replaced by Rohit Sharma in the squad for the 5 match series which will kick start from 11th January. In a statement BCCI has said that the aggressive opener Sehwag has been advised to withdraw from the ODI series against South Africa to take care of his injured shoulder.

The statement further confirmed that Rohit Sharma will be taking the place of Sehwag in the squad and the replacement was done in the best interest of the country and not to miss Sehwag in the much important World Cup 2011.

BCCI further said that Murali Vijay will stay back in South Africa for the ODI series as the 17th member of the squad.

However, it is not clear whether the opener will be available for the third Test beginning after few days.

Earlier, Sehwag missed the Twenty20 World Cup in May due to a shoulder problem and clearly the team management does not want to take any chance with the ODI World Cup slated for February-March.

With a victory in the Durban Test, India now go into the third Test with the series levelled 1-1 and will then take on the hosts in a solitary Twenty20 game before embarking on the five-match ODI series, which begins on 12 January.
