Sonia breaks silence over CWG: Admonishes guilty of severe punishment

At last United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi broke her silence over the controversial issues of financial scam regarding the CWG 2010 on Thursday August 19 while addressing the congress parliamentary committee.

Sonia Gandhi while addressing had admonished the culprits in very acerbic tone that after the completion of the game, the government will tighten its control across the neck of accused in the corruption scam and other malpractices related to the game. Her brutal remarks were the lively example of the seriousness of this issue.

In fact, her remarks were pointed towards non other than organizing committee President Suresh Kalmadi whose association with these corruption scams is under allegations.”The Prime Minister is looking into the matter strictly regarding the CWG events and those found guilty will not be spared”, she said.

At the same time, she also emphasized on the fact that the people should cooperate the government to make this event successful one and urged everyone to come together for a common motto. She pleaded to the nation that the success of the Games will not bring success of an individual organization but would save the prestige of the country.

Gandhi also showed her concern over the fatal situation hovering over Kashmir valley and expressed her anguish for the losses of life in the valley. She backed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s initiative to increase job opportunities in the valley.

On Naxalites attacks also she brought some convincing points and heeded to the promises made by the government to bring rural development for the people who turn themselves into insurgents.
