Spain emerged as the winner of FIFA World Cup Final 2010 after defeating the Netherlands by 1-0. The match was certainly not the most interesting game with both the teams unable to score a goal in the given one hour and thirty minutes. However, when they were given extra time of 30 minutes, Andres Iniesta scored a goal at the 116th minute which sealed the fate of the Dutch players. Thus, Spain went on to win their first ever World Cup title.
The FIFA World Cup Final 2010 has been a much anticipated one with all European team showdown this time. Both Netherlands and Spain have never won the World Cup before. In fact, for winner Spain, this is the first time, they have ever reach the finals of the World Cup. Netherlands have previously reached the finals of the World Cup twice. Spain is currently ranked at no.2 while Netherlands is at no.4. But finally, the European champion, Spain, overpowered the opponent and won the coveted title.
The final match was indeed marred by 14 yellow cards that was handed out to players of both teams. In fact, one of the players John Heitinga of Netherlands was given a red card during the extra time. In fact, it was an agressive game today at the final match.
“It was a very difficult game but we have some fantastic players who knew how to respond to the problems,” said Vicente del Bosque, the Spanish coach. “We owe this to a great group of players.”
This has been a great tournament for Spain with two of their players being contenders for coveted title. David Villa of Spain was the contender for Golden Ball Award while Iker Casillas, the captain and Goal keeper of Spain won the Golden Glove Award.
After Spain won the game, Iker Casillas, the captain, accepted the trophy from FIFA president Sepp Blatter, kissed it and raised it to the audience. After that, the whole team ran around the field showing their trophy to the audience and later they gathered at the midfield for the group photo with trophy.
Spain has been hot favorite after Octopus Paul predicted that they will eventually win the World Cup 2010.

I think spain played really well….and they deserve to be the winner ultimately…..
I knew Spain will win because they played better than Netherlands and outplayed them in every department of the game.
