There are a lot of speculations regarding the Supermoon which is going to happen on 19th of March (Saturday) that it will cause natural disasters like storms, earthquakes, volcanoes, high tide etc.
AS per statements of scientist worldwide, on March 19, 2011, the moon will get closest to earth during it’s revolution around Earth after a period of 18 years. This closest distance has been approximated to be just 221,567 miles (356,577 km). Interestingly, it will be a full moon night too.
US astrologist Richard Nolle termed this event as Lunar Perigee and believes that it heralds disaster. While speaking to media, he told that every time the Supermoon had brought consequences along with it in the form of storms, very high tides, extreme tides and even earthquakes and is speculating of such event this year also.
Supermoons are closer to Earth and occur every 10 to 20 years – the most recent being in 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2005. With this remark of great astrologer, here is a big question in front of us that whether we should plan emergency and prepare for survival shelters.
Scientifically, it is the moon’s gravity which will be the major culprit giving rise to disasters. Other scientist named Simon O’Toole called the chances of disaster at par with the speculation that the world will end in December 2012.
What we can do is simply wait and watch the day of hype.
