Nov 3 (FLS): On Tuesday, one of the most awaited judgements in Gosabara case of RDX and arms landing which were used in Bombay serial blast in 1993, one of the most dreadful terror attacks in Indian history that claimed holocaust of more than 270 people, was pronounced. Citing the lack of evidence, a special TADA court in Porbandar declared innocent to all 17 accused in the case.
It has been reported that all 17 persons were accused of supporting banned D-group. The report further describes that all accused were indulge in transportation and delivery of arms and explosives which were allegedly landed by D-group on Porbandar coast.
The cases were filed against 22 persons and were arrested, out of which accused 5 died during trial.
After 13 long years of trial period, all accused were acquitted because of lack of evidences and witnesses. The special TADA court failed to find any connection between the blast and the accused. The prosecution was mostly based on the confessional statement during trial due to lack of evidence but eventually could not prove the discovery of arms.
Speaking to the media persons Salim Jokia, defence lawyer said that three IPS officers, who were tackling the work of investigation, were examined along with 65 witnesses and more than 1000 papers were also examined.
The prosecution had alleged that 30 boxes of RDX and 45 bags containing AK-47s, 20 muser pistols, cartridges and silver plates were off-loaded from the Al-Sada-Bahar ship on the Saurashtra coast in order to accomplish the malicious conspiracy serial blast planned by D-group.
