This year by August or September, we may see a lot of Tata Nano’s on the roads, thereby nullifying the requirement of advance booking, says the senior officer of Tata Company. He also said that the setting up of Nano manufacturing plant at Sanand, Gujarat has made it possible for delivering the Nano cars faster to the customers.
Manoj Arora, Tata Motors Company Senior Manager reported saying, “From this August or September, customers will be able to walk into our showroom and drive out in a Nano”.
Tata Motors with its single Pantnagar Plant at Uttarakhand could only produce few units of Nano for consumption because of which the customers had to wait for a long time to get their Nano, after booking for the same. Unveiling the Nano in Indian market on March 23, 2009, the Tata Company took bookings from the customers for 1.55 lakh units using a lottery medium. But only one lakh units are scheduled to be produced through the single manufacturing plant by this year end.
Presently almost 35000 Nano’s are moving on Indian roads. Arora added saying that after Tata gets another Nano manufacturing plant, things will move faster. The Sananad facility can produce up to 2.5 lakh units in a year.
Arora said customers are happy being with their Nano and the car is making a good move in the market. He also reported, “Nine Tata Nanos will cover three different routes during a 26-day-long voyage, and will visit 36 cities — covering a distance of over 15,000 kilometres”.
