Teachers in Kerala to get rebate on laptops and netbooks

Kerala government has recently announced to make laptops and netbooks available at discounted price to teachers from Government from and Aided Schools. The step to modernise teachers and make them more updated has been taken by Kerala Government’s IT@School Project.

As per report of sources, around 50,000 teachers will be availed by this unique programme. The report further added that teachers would benefit the bulk purchase rate as under the ITC scheme the teachers would get a laptop at Rs 17,770-(including 3-years warranty and every sort of things associated with laptop) and a netbook at 11,450 respectively.

While describing the privilege being provided to the teachers the report said that a total discount of 37% had been given to the teachers.

Reportedly, 10,000 laptops and 18,000 netbooks have to be made available to the teachers at the discounted price.

In a press conference, Mr Anvar Sadath, Executive director of IT@School Project, said that there had been a constant request from the teachers and teachers’ organisations that laptops may be provided them at lower price, so they could get more updated and improve their teaching process. He further added that he was sure the new scheme would improve the teaching scenario in the state.

Reportedly, Head Masters and teachers of Government schools and Aided Schools who wish to buy a laptop/netbook will get benefited. Teachers who want to avail this scheme are not supposed to use the equipment for any other purpose and are also not allowed to sell.

The service will be provided on first come first served basis.
