After the brutal killing of a Gazetted officer in Maharashtra, UP saw the same on Thursday where an RTI activist was seriously injured when unidentified locals shot him in Deepnagar locality Sonebhadra as per report of the sources.
Seriously injured Pandey said media from hospital bed that an attacker shot at him and escaped into narrow lane while he was returning from Doctor’s chamber.
Pandey had a narrow escape as he suffered a minor injury on his head in this attack.
He further told that this was the second attempt on his life within a week span since he started working for exposing and questioning the corruption in the implementation of government schemes locally.
Last week he was hit by a jeep while he was coming home on his scooter.
Sources have reported that Pandey had been in the limelight in recent past for exposing the malpractice committed to allegedly grab the funds of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) by mafia in Ghorawal block.
An FIR has been registered against three persons including a block development officer (BDO) in relation with the case and SP of Sonebhadra, Deepak Kumar said that the allegations of the victim have been taken seriously and probe into the matter is on.
Meanwhile, demanding immediate arrest of attackers, Congress activists staged a sit-in Jubli crossing here creating traffic jam in the area.
