Vastanvi’s case took a new twist on Thursday when students and senior Deobandis came out in the open to support Maulana Ghulam Mohammed Vastanvi and slammed Maulana Arshad Madani for scripting revolt against the Vice Chancellor Vastanvi.
As per report of the sources, Madani , who is the President of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind and head of Hadees (religious edicts), lost the top job by margin and it was because of this he is alleged for doing a conspiracy against him.
Due to this revelation, Vastanvi got an image makeover while Madani emerged as a new villain who, as per statement of a Deoband student, tried to push the seminary to dark ages.
Mohammed Mavia Ali, a Deoband alumni and secretary of Samajwadi party while speaking to media recalled the moments when the students openly wept as his car rolled out of the Deoband gates and even the rector became emotional.
The campus controversy has also bloomed into an online signature campaign, both for and against Vastanvi. The president of Jamat-ul-Talba, Shaad Jamil, said he and “hundreds of supporters would not let Deoband to be captured by a Modi fan”.
Meanwhile, the meeting of managing committee has been shifted from 20th February to 23rd February to take up Maulana Vastanvi’s move to submit his resignation in the wake of the controversy over his remarks.
