The laboratories of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) are already facing the eminent problem of dearth of researchers and in the middle of this scarcity of researchers, 20 top scientists have quit their jobs in last 6 months.
As per report of the sources, scientists are giving up their job because of better offers from private sectors and they are switching for better opportunities. The DRDO’s report says that private sectors are throwing glimmering opportunities to the scientist working in the field of computer science and electronics & communication.
In a statement, Mr Vijay Kumar Saraswath, the scientific adviser to the defence minister Mr A K Antony, said that in the last six months, he had signed about 20 resignations of top scientists. He further added that they were losing scientists from their labs and IT sectors were picking them up and they had not faced such a situation in last two years.
While discussing the strategy to fight the situation, Mr Vijay Kumar added that they needed to improve their HR policies in order to retain the scientists and work on it was going on. Mr Vijay Kumar further added that there was a hope as a large number of young NRI science graduate were approaching DRDO for work and also a lot of youngsters from Indian universities had shown interest in pursuing research.
Mr Vijay Kumar informed that they were looking forward for recruiting young researchers.
